This is another finished quilt. Really, I can hardly say that I finished it, all I did was sew a hanging strip on the back. I really actually finished this quilt more than 8 years ago. I remember working on it when I lived in Oakland and it was quite a while ago. I made this in anticipation of my first child being born, in the green, blue and brown (forest!) colors of her first room. That tiny baby is now 8 years old.
This quilt isn’t pieced, it’s quilted/embroidered with vines and flowers. The letters are appliqué with a simple whip stitch. I really enjoyed the embroidery on this one. It’s very simple but satisfying.
I used entirely scrap fabric for the letters and the binding, mostly from the one bed-quilt (not art quilt) that I made when I was 30 and from the Birches quilt (art quilt) that I made many many years ago. I still like this one quite a bit, it’s one of my favorites that I’ve made.
You can only see the stitching when you’re really up close. It still sort of amazes me that I’m capable of the patience of making tiny, even stitches.
On this one, you can really see the stitching on the reverse side. I kind of like the back too!
